M&E Design Coordinator – Building Services Design Engineer

This is a permanent, full time role for an experienced M&E Coordinator / Building Services Engineer with a Mechanical or Electrical bias.

A reputable and rapidly growing locally owned business, specialising in M & E Building Services, are looking to strengthen their team with a talented project engineer with strong M&E Design Coordination skills.

ROLE:  M&E DESIGN COORDINATOR / BUILDING SERVICES DESIGN ENGINEER

LOCATION:  Based in South County Down, you may be living in / around Banbridge, Downpatrick, Saintfield, Castlewellan, Ballynahinch, Hillsborough Co Down, Newry, Lisburn, Belfast, Northern Ireland or Republic of Ireland

SALARY:  £30,000 – £35,000 plus career progression opportunities, mileage, expenses paid, benefits, pension, 4- 5 weeks holiday.

HOURS:  Monday- Friday. 37.5 hours pw.

Reporting to the Project Manager/Director, you will be coordinating the mechanical and electrical aspects of the project on site, in South Down, driving the project forward to ensure the project meets the target on time and to the required standards.  As the M & E Coordinator, you will be coordinating M & E Design from construction through to the commissioning phase, handover, and Post Occupancy Evaluation Phases.  This role has design elements as well as project management aspects.  Your day-to-day duties will include:

• Reviewing M&E Design information at pre-tender stage.
• Assisting in the appointment of subcontractors / M&E specialists.
• Coordinating, monitoring, and controlling specialist M&E engineering installations.
• Solving on-site M&E issues, providing design solutions.
• Adhering to the company H&S policy, current regulations & client requirements.
• Ensuring work is completed to the specification and programme and within budget.
• Keeping a site diary and records of progress.
• Production of snagging/defects lists and assurance of satisfactory completion.
• Operational handover of systems.

You will have at least 2 years’ experience of working independently in a similar mechanical and electrical coordinator role, coordinating building services design solutions to mechanical and electrical installations.

Ideally, you will have an Electrical / Mechanical Engineering qualification, HND or Degree in BUILDING SERVICES ENGINEERING / ARCHITECTURAL ENGINEERING or a Mechanical & Electrical industry qualification / equivalent experience/qualification used to assess tender returns for compliance, manage the production of coordination & as installed drawings.   Proficient in Microsoft Office, Autocad to produce accurate drawings.
